I am not finding many posts on how to deploy XP via MDT, only Vista. Can you
use the CD source files as your OS, or do you need to create a wim version
(sysprepped)?

You can use the CD source file for all deployments if you want to, but
i really recommend only to it them for creating a XP reference
image...

Which you then deploy to all your computers..

I used an OEM XP SP2 CD, imported it as an OS. When it gets done installing
the OS, it reboots and displays "Error loading operating sytem". This is on
an IDE hard drive. I can't figure out why the OS won't post.

I can view all the files from WinPE, so I know it is working somewhat. I
though maybe I was doing it wrong.

It could be the Windows PE 2.1 uberbug... did you enable the
Preinstall -> New Computer Only> Set Diskpart BIOS Compatibility
action?

It might also be missing mass storage drivers, what hardware do you
deploy to? Try using a virtual machine (IDE Disks).

Johan, does your post
here:http://www.deployvista.com/Blog/tabid/70/EntryID/17/Default.aspx do the
same thing as what you describe below (Set Diskpart BIOS Compatibility?).
