I am working on the deployment of Windows 7 and the implementation for
Windows RE within MDT 2010 is a little fuzzy. There is mention of
implementing Windows RE in the documentation, but it does not appear to be
the same way that the default install does it.

The partition is still visible and there doesn't seem to be any clear
documented way to do this with Win 7. Maybe I missed something? I basically
want the same thing that happens when you run it off the DVD. A hidden
bootable Windows RE that fails over if windows doesn't boot. Any ideas?

New for MDT 2010.

If you have Windows 7 full source installed in your deployment share (
install.wim *and* boot.wim ), MDT 2010 will attempt to grab the boot.wim file
from the Win7 directory when building the main MDT Litetouch_x??.wim file,
rather than using the winpe.wim file from the WAIK because the Win7 boot.wim
file has WinRE built in! <yea!>

Now it's just a matter of creating an extra partition, copying the
litetouch_x??.wim file to the partition, and modifying the bcd using
bcdedit.exe.
